Getting Started
What is CoffeeSights?
CoffeeSights is the new market intelligence platform for the global coffee industry, translating industry complexity into structured, forward-looking signals for decision-making across coffee, machines, pricing and consumer experience. More information is available at CoffeeSights.com.
Who is CoffeeSights for?
CoffeeSights is designed for businesses and professionals across the coffee value chain, including roasters, brands, importers, distributors, coffee chains, investors, machine manufacturers, equipment suppliers and capsule producers. It is particularly useful for teams evaluating new markets, pricing, sales opportunities or expansion plans.
What does CoffeeSights actually cover?
CoffeeSights covers five main areas: coffee markets, coffee machines, out-of-home pricing through GCCP, the BrainMood sensory framework, and industry news and insights. Our Methodology and About pages explain how these areas are connected.
Can I request a custom analysis for a specific market or question?
Yes. Start by telling us the question you need to answer. We will define an approach based on your market, products, customers, pricing, production capacity, logistics and service model. You can review our Methodology page or contact us directly.
Do you sell ready-made reports, or is everything custom?
Most of our work is tailored to a specific business objective. Deliverables can include written reports, presentations, dashboards or ongoing KPI monitoring. We also make selected GCCP data publicly available on our Prices page, including the live index, weighted prices and regional rankings.
How can I get in touch?
Email us directly at info@coffeesights.com, or use the "Talk to us" button on any of our pages.
How We Work
What's CoffeeSights' approach?
We combine top-down market data with bottom-up market data. Trade statistics and industry data provide the overall picture, while data on consumption, facilities and installed base help us size individual markets. We then compare the results using AI-assisted analysis and expert review. See our Methodology page for the full breakdown.
What's the role of AI in your analysis?
AI is a tool, not the final product. It helps us connect, compare and update large volumes of data more efficiently. Human expertise remains essential for deciding which signals are reliable and what they mean for each client's business.
What does your process look like, step by step?
Our process has five stages: collecting primary trade and industry data; building bottom-up datasets from consumption, facilities and installed base; comparing the results through AI-assisted analysis; reviewing the findings with input from industry experts; and updating the analysis as new data becomes available. Full details are on our Methodology page.
Do you cover more than coffee volumes?
Yes. In addition to coffee production, trade and consumption, we analyse coffee machines, out-of-home pricing, market positioning and consumer experience.
Which coffee product formats do you analyse?
We analyse four product formats: whole bean, roasted and ground, portioned or single-serve, and instant or soluble coffee. Each format is assessed across at-home and out-of-home consumption.
Which coffee machine segments do you analyse?
We analyse the espresso (traditional and fully automatic), filter, liquid and capsule segments. Depending on the segment, we consider machine type, level of automation, price range, installed base and business model, including purchase and rental. See the Machines page for the full breakdown.
Can market share and competitive positioning be included?
Not by default. Market share and competitive positioning can be added as an add-on to your analysis.
Sources & Data
What sources do you use?
Our sources include the International Coffee Organization, Eurostat, UN Comtrade, national statistics offices, industry associations and company reports. We combine these with our own proprietary data on consumption and segments, alongside broader bottom-up data — such as the number of facilities and pricing — drawn from these and other sources. Local trade publications and press coverage may provide additional context.
Do you use qualitative data too?
Yes. Interviews with industry experts, market leaders and company managers, conducted periodically at trade shows or by phone, inform our understanding of market trends, industry segments and distribution flows.
What units do you use?
We report coffee volumes in tonnes and machines in units. Market values are generally shown in millions of the relevant currency and are calculated using average sell-in prices. The unit, currency and reference period are specified for each dataset.
How is coffee consumption segmented?
We divide consumption into at-home and out-of-home markets. Out-of-home consumption is then segmented into HORECA and non-HORECA locations such as offices, hospitals, universities, convenience stores, stations and airports. Sales channels, including B2B and online, are analysed separately where relevant.
What is GCCP?
GCCP (Global Coffee Consumer Price) is our own out-of-home price-tracking project. It includes GCCI (Global Coffee Consumer Index), a live index, as well as weighted coffee prices from a basket of core products, tracked across roughly 150 cities worldwide and expressed in USD for global comparability. See the Prices page for the live data, regional rankings, and how to license the full dataset.
How does BrainMood fit into your data?
BrainMood is our colour-coded framework connecting coffee structure and flavour perception with eight moods, including Calm, Balance, Focus and Creative. Profiles are based on established specialty coffee knowledge, including origin literature, SCA references and recognised roaster tasting notes. Coffees submitted by partners are assessed using their technical data sheets or sensory panel results. See BrainMood for how roasters and coffee shops apply the framework.
Why not rely on industry publications alone?
Individual industry publications often provide only part of the market picture. We combine multiple primary and industry sources with bottom-up data based on facilities, installed base, consumption and pricing, then cross-check the results for consistency.
Do you provide forecasts, or just historical data?
Both. We analyse historical performance, current trends and future scenarios. Forecasts can also be updated as new data becomes available, rather than remaining fixed as a one-off snapshot.
Which countries or cities do you cover?
Our coverage is global, although the level of detail depends on data availability. Coffee-market and coffee-machine data are compiled primarily at country level, while GCCP currently tracks out-of-home prices in cities across multiple regions. See the Prices page for the live regional ranking.
Cost & Timing
How much does an analysis or report cost?
Cost is tied to your objectives, the level of detail you need and your budget. Tell us the question you're trying to answer, and we'll identify the methodology, timeline and cost that fit the work involved — the more specific and in-depth the request, the more extensive the timing and cost. Everything is clarified upfront, starting with an email exchange followed by a kickoff call, and delivery is organised in steps, with rolling payments along the way. Get in touch to start the conversation.
How long does an analysis take?
Timing follows the same logic as cost: it depends on the scope, the markets involved and the level of detail required. The more specific and in-depth your question, the more time the work will take. We agree the schedule together during the kickoff call, and delivery happens step by step rather than all at once.
Are your reports one-off, or continuously updated?
Both options are available. We can deliver a one-off report or provide ongoing updates and monitoring. The frequency is agreed according to the project and the availability of new source data.
What output formats are available?
Deliverables can include a written report, an executive presentation, a live dashboard or ongoing KPI monitoring. The format is selected according to your audience and business objective.
